Retirement villages - better protection needed

"The Christchurch earthquakes highlighted the need for better consumer protection for residents of retirement villages in the event of a village being completely destroyed. In particular, it became clear that the current wording of Clause 22(7)(c) of the Retirement Villages Code of Practice (on the procedure to be followed if the unit is not to be repaired or replaced) provided no protection whatsoever..."
