Profile: Hon Stan Rodger

Hon Stan RodgerA well-known company director and former Crown minister has been elected to the Age Concern New Zealand Board.

The Hon Stan Rodger was elected at Age Concern’s 13 April AGM, adding Board membership to his wide range of governance roles including chairing Age Concern Otago.

"I want to use my experience in governance to the benefit of older people," Stan Rodger says. "The senior New Zealand population will increase to 1.2 million by the late 2020s. This provides both a great challenge and also a wonderful resource."

Mr  Rodger has extensive public sector experience in board governance and operating at a strategic level. He is a former senior cabinet minister, holding portfolios including SOEs, Labour, State Services, and Deputy Finance.

He is retired from public service but maintains a wide range of activities. He is also Independent Chair of NZ Genomics Ltd. and has held recent directorships of NZ Post and the Electricity Commission.
