Accredited Visiting Service Coordinator (Timaru)

Our Accredited Visiting Service Ratonga Torotoro Whaimana (AVS) provides regular visits to socially isolated and chronically lonely older people living in communities across New Zealand.
We require a Coordinator to work 20 hours per week on a contracted basis, based in Timaru, to set up and deliver the Accredited Visiting Service in this area. Key tasks are: client assessment, recruiting, training and supervising volunteers, networking and promoting the service, data entry and reporting.
The successful applicant will have:
- A desire to work with older people
- Ability to listen to an older person and understand their needs
- Ability to train, support and supervise volunteers
- Ability to self-manage and motivate
- Excellent networking skills
- Ability to promote the service through the media and other avenues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of working with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds
- Experience working in a community setting
- Good computer skills
- A full New Zealand driver’s license
- Professional social work or health background preferred
