Keeping you and your money safe - Seminar Series

In October, ASB Bank and Age Concern New Zealand partnered together to help keep you and your money safe. Our nationwide campaign raised awareness about financial safety - including financial abuse, scamming and personal online security.
Elder abuse is a serious issue in New Zealand. 54% of elder abuse cases seen by Age Concern involves elder abuse and neglect. Age Concern New Zealand and ASB Bank are determined to protect your money from financial abuse and scams. Through our campaign we delivered presentations across the country and created resoruces which showed how to keep you and your money safe.

Little Black Book of Scams - Produced by the Commission for Financial Capability, The Little Black Book of Scams outlines how scammers target their victims and trick them into parting with their money, gives tips on how people can protect themselves, points out the ‘red flags’ that give away a scam, what to do if you’ve fallen for one, and the various agencies to which you can report different types of scams.
Passwords Keep you Safe- CERT NZ have created this resource to help you create strong passwords for online accounts.
Spark Scam Awareness brochure - Spark and Netsafe NZ have partnered together to create a brochure on how to protect yourself from phone scams.

Top 10 Tips Poster- Age Concern New Zealand have put together a list of 10 top tips to promote respect and prevent abuse. You can print this poster out and hang it up in your home and/or workplace.
Questions about safety- Age Concern New Zealand have developed a brochure which outlines what happens when you contact Age Concern with an elder abuse case.
Seminars
With the help of ASB Bank, 12 Age Concerns across New Zealand delivered presentations in October which focused on financial abuse, scams, and online safety. The presentations covered what financial abuse looks like and how to prevent yourself and loved ones from being financially abused.
