Dr Judy Blakey MNZM PhD

Dr Judy Blakey is a life member of New Zealand Association of Gerontology (NZAG) with a background in education, research and community organisations.  Judy’s Massey University PhD (2008) explored ageing with invisible hearing losses in the audible world.  Judy has served two terms on Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland Council’s Seniors’ Advisory Panel.  In 2018 the Panel’s advocacy secured the councillors’ unanimous support to enable applying to join the WHO’s global network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities in 2020.  Judy also chairs the Mairangi Arts Centre’s Board of Trustees; and provides health consumer perspectives as a Director of Comprehensive Care PHO, and member of Precision Driven Health’s Independent Advisory Group.  Judy will share about the creative collaborations to progress developing Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland’s evolving Age-friendly Action Plan.  The takeaway will be the importance of enabling inter-generational lifelong learning.

Judy participated as nonagenarian Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama in the 2019 Mairangi Bay Santa Parade.   (Her photo is evidence!)
