Te Papa is a landmark building in the heart of Wellington that houses a wide range of contemporary and versatile conference spaces with fantastic views of the city and harbour – and New Zealand’s national museum.  The full Te Reo Māori name, ‘Te Papa Tongarewa’, translates literally to ‘container of treasures’. A fuller interpretation is ‘our container of treasured things and people that spring from mother earth here in New Zealand.


In central Wellington you’re rarely more than 20 minutes’ walk from Te Papa. Click here for all the information you need to find it – whether you’re driving straight into the Level 1 carpark, or taking a taxi from the airport.

Conference Floor Plan

The Conference and Event spaces are located on the following levels of Te Papa:

Level 2 – ICON; Soundings Theatre

Level 3 – Rangimārie and Angus Rooms; Oceania

Level 4 – Te Marae; Treaty of Waitangi: Signs of a Nation

Car Parking

Car parking is available at Te Papa at a discounted rate for conference delegates - $12.00 per day and $8.00 for an evening.  Drive into the carpark, take a ticket from the machine (the same as a public parking building), then validate it at the conference registration desk.
