Catherine Hall

Chief Executive
Alzheimers New Zealand

Catherine Hall’s career began as a registered nurse before taking on management positions with services for older people, including at Wellington Hospital, Methodist Social Services, the Central Regional Health Authority, and the public service.
New Zealand is facing rapid increases in the number of people living with dementia, and the implications of that for individuals, families, the health system and economy. Alzheimers New Zealand’s response is to focus on building a dementia-friendly New Zealand - where people living with dementia are able to exercise their human rights to be valued and respected, to contribute to and participate in their communities, and to get the services and support they need.

Catherine’s presentation will describe Alzheimers New Zealand’s strategy for achieving a dementia-friendly New Zealand, which provides a platform on which to bring the sector together and direct our collective efforts toward a more positive future for people living with dementia.
