Dr Catherine Love

Senior Researcher, Pacific Section
Family Centre Social Policy Research Unit

With colleagues from The Family Centre and Massey University, Dr Catherine Love will share findings from co-created research with kaumātua of the Māori specific aspects of loneliness and social isolation when compared with standard western responses.   She also wants to share the highly significant relationships that were found between loneliness and social isolation and the health and wellbeing of kaumātua.  Catherine and her colleagues want people to appreciate the culturally specific issues around loneliness and social isolation for older Māori so that policies and service provision can be attentive to their communities.
