Ágnes Szabó

Senior Lecturer, School of Health
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington

Ágnes Szabó’s research integrates life course approaches with critical gerontology and she is interested in the social and cultural determinants of health and wellbeing.  Ágnes will present recent findings highlighting that access to material resources over the adult life course is a protective factor against loneliness in old age for men, but not for women. These findings are important because they show that social structures pattern the resources different groups have access to, which increase vulnerability in disadvantaged groups as they age.
