Carole Gordon specialises in social and political gerontology. She undertakes research projects and initiates policy development and projects to meet the challenges of increasing longevity and population ageing. Carole is passionate about social change and the opportunity that living longer and living more brings to society - enriching lives, communities and the economy. In line with the conference themes, Carole’s paper Today and Tomorrow
discusses a research project engaging elders in transport planning. Access to public transport that goes where elders need to go will increasingly become a critical determinant of health and wellbeing. Elders in this project contributed to a Bay of Plenty Regional Council policy investment to enable all-day free Supergold Card travel.
