Dr Eamon Merrick and Dr Rhona Winnington will present a model of using national clinical data to inform shared decision-making about priorities, preferences, and quality of life (for the first time in New Zealand, and internationally).  Dr Merrick and Dr Winnington will preview their findings and highlight the potential of advanced analytics to prioritise the preferences and desires of the older adult.

This work is a collaborative program involving expertise from AUT, the University of Auckland, the University of Technology Sydney, the University of Canberra, and the Technical Advisory Service.

Informed by the data from this research, care planning discussions will provide predictable opportunities for greater individual autonomy over personal health needs and potentially reduce the incidence of acute episodes of illness.
