Dr M Claire Dale

Research Fellow, Retirement Policy and Research Centre
University of Auckland Business School

Dr M Claire Dale’s research interests include economic and public policy around tax and welfare, the health and care of an ageing population, decumulation, and intergenerational equity.

In her presentation, Dr Dale will urge women to mind the gender pension gap, women’s comparatively smaller accumulations of retirement savings, a dire consequence of their experiences in the paid workforce. This gap is made more serious by the fact that on average women live longer than men and are likely to require expensive end-of-life care for longer. The good news is that appropriate policies could close the gender pension gap.
