Professor Merryn Gott leads the Te Ārai Palliative Care and End of Life Research Group. The group undertakes equity-focused research with the support of the Te Ārai Kahui Kaumātua which informs education, practice and policy initiatives in Aotearoa and internationally.
Lisa Williams is also a member of the Te Ārai Palliative Care and End of Life Research Group. Lisa’s research interests centre on palliative and end of life care for older people.
Manawaroa, the film Merryn and Lisa are presenting on behalf of the larger research team, features 5 stories of older New Zealanders from diverse cultural backgrounds, exploring their lives and views on social connectedness, especially across the generations.  The research team is showing the film to diverse audiences in order to raise awareness about societal views on ageing and inter-generational connection.

The team hopes Manawaroa will help start discussions across the country about how older people's aspirations to connect across generations can be realised. After the film, Merryn and Lisa will seek audience feedback as to how, and to whom, the film could be screened.
