Tessa Pocock

PhD Candidate, School of Nursing
University of Auckland

A PhD candidate in the School of Nursing, University of Auckland, Tessa comes from a physical activity and health background, with a particular interest in the built environment. Tessa’s PhD research explores the relationships between the built and social environment and older adults’ perceptions of 'positive ageing in place’, across two ethnically diverse communities in Auckland. Her presentation describes the first study of her PhD research, using results of a scoping review to conceptualise ‘positive ageing’. Ultimately, Tessa hopes that her PhD research will inform initiatives aimed at creating enriching environments for community-dwelling older adults.
