Distinguished Professor Emeritus Paul Spoonley heads up a major research project on Capturing the Diversity Dividend of Aotearoa and is just beginning another project on societal resilience.  He is the editor or author of 27 books, including The New New Zealand: Facing demographic disruption, released in 2020.  This book has convinced him that New Zealand authorities and communities do not understand the effects of demographic disruption that is now occurring, including of the nature of ageing.  A policy priority is ageing well but are we really doing enough to achieve this?

When not struggling with statistics and writing, Paul can be found picking apples on his Hawke’s Bay orchard – if the real pickers let him.
