Dr Judy Blakey MNZM PhD

Dr Judy Blakey is a life member of New Zealand Association of Gerontology (NZAG).  She provides health consumer perspectives as a Director of Comprehensive Care PHO, and as a member of Precision Driven Health’s Independent Advisory Group, the NZ Algorithm Hub’s Governance Group and the Northern Regional Alliance’s Consumer Panel.  Judy served six years on the Mairangi Arts Centre’s Board of Trustees; four of them as chairperson, and has been appointed a life member.

Judy’s Massey University PhD (2008) explored ageing with hearing losses in the audible world.  Advocacy during two terms on Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland Council’s Seniors’ Advisory Panel progressed awareness of the region’s ageing demographic and the WHO’s global network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities.  She will share stories and insights about the creative collaborations that developed Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland’s evolving Age-friendly Action Plan.  The takeaway will celebrate enabling inter-generational lifelong learning.

Judy participated as nonagenarian Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama in the 2019 Mairangi Bay Santa Parade.   (Her photo is evidence!)
