Health Promotion and Policy Manager (Permanent, Full Time)

We are looking for new staff to provide effective support and development to selected services provided by Age Concern for older people. To work in a new Health Promotion team and manage the Health Promotion Advisor (HPA). To prepare policy and statements of Age Concern New Zealand’s position on a range of topics that affect and advance the wellbeing of older people and writing submissions in response to government (and selected non-government) consultations. To provide advice, prepare correspondence and respond to concerns and specific requests in regard to policy-related matters.

Qualifications and skills:


* Tertiary qualification e.g. law, arts, political science, social sciences
* Has a good understanding of the process within which policy choices are framed and a broad understanding of policy frameworks.
* Has an awareness of the economic, political, social and cultural context of the relevant sectors with whom we engage.
* Has well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
* Has good stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
* Is an effective planner with good organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work with conflicting priorities.
* Has the ability to work both independently and co-operatively.
* Is proven to be reliable and accountable.
* Exercises sound judgement.
* Demonstrates honesty and high levels of integrity.
* Has high levels of initiative, drive and creativity.
* Is self-motivated and flexible, embraces change and is open to new ways of doing things.

Health Promotion Advisor (Permanent, Part Time)

We are looking for new staff to join our National Office in Wellington to support the delivery of effective health promotion programmes across all Age Concerns according to best practice and the requirements of funder contracts.

Qualification and skills:

* Demonstrated experience in the planning, assessment, delivery and evaluation of health promotion programmes in a health or social setting.
* A recognised qualification in health promotion.
* Accomplished writing skills and the ability to tailor style and format to communicate effectively across a range of situations and audiences.
* Experience in project management is an advantage but not essential.
* Has an interest in/commitment to the health and well-being of older New Zealanders.
* Focused on customer service excellence.
* Exercises sound judgement.
* Demonstrates honesty and high levels of integrity.
* Is self-motivated and demonstrates high levels of initiative and drive.
* Is flexible, embraces change and is open to new ways of doing things.
