Wellbeing story
Time Out ticks the boxes
Once a month Age Concern Rodney provides a place for more than 60 people to take time out. We call it the Time Out Programme, and it is making a huge difference to attendees. Some of these older people are isolated, some are lonely and some seldom leave their homes.
We offer a range of entertainment that differs each month – it may be a local musician or a guest speaker. There is an option to play games like Bingo, Scrabble or 500 which are all good for hand-eye and brain coordination. The general consensus amongst our Time Out members, is that they whole-heartedly enjoy the social aspect of the gatherings. We even serve a nutritious mid-day meal and provide transport, which we’ve found is a great incentive.
