Age Concern Taranaki

• Support Services, Information, Advice and Personal Advocacy: Responding in person/by phone to a range of queries from older people and their carers e.g. Advising where to obtain a service, what is available. Providing confidential support and empowerment to older people. Assisting with WINZ queries etc. Providing personal safety items such as panic alarms, life tubes.
  
  
• Information Resources: Providing written materials e.g. brochures and books.
  
  Education: Holding education seminars for the public e.g. Positive Ageing, Driver Refresher, Health topics, Enduring Power of Attorney, etc.
  
  
• Social Activities: Holding events that provide social connection between older people eg. drop in centres, outings
  
  In-home Support: Referring on to recommended services e.g. trade and home help services.
  
  
• Representation: Providing representation and advice on older peoples' issues to local influential groups e.g. District Councils, District Health Board, Positive Ageing Trust.
  
  
• Visiting Services: Providing visitors who make regular visits to socially isolated older people in their homes via Age Concern Accredited Visiting Service and non-accredited programmes. North and South Taranaki Service available.
  
  
• Fieldwork Service: Providing community social care and wellbeing support for older people who need help and do not fall under any other support agency. North and South Taranaki Officers available.
  
  
• Shopping Service: Fortnightly supermarket shopping visits for those socially isolated and unable to drive to the supermarket for themselves.
  
  
• Exercise/ Falls Prevention: Holding exercise programmes in the local community: Aqua-walking weekly falls prevention activity.
  
  
• Life Tubes: Distribution of Life Tubes over Taranaki area.
  
  
• Budget Advisory Service: Confidential budget service available.
